What are Reciprocal Links?

Reciprocal linking is the practice of exchanging links between websites as a way to improve search engine rankings. They are also known as mutual links, inbound links, or link exchanges.

Reciprocal linking involves two sites that operate in the same niche and agree to link back to one another. Each site will have a link on the other website that directs readers to their own site. The value of this strategy is that you’re helping another website while also improving your own search engine optimization (SEO). 

Why Do Sites Use Reciprocal Links?

There are a few reasons why sites may choose to employ reciprocal linking. One reason is to increase their search engine rankings. When you have other sites linking to your content, it sends a signal to search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo that your site is valuable. Therefore, these search engines will rank your site higher in their results pages for relevant terms. However, this strategy isn’t foolproof and you can’t just ask for a reciprocal link from anyone and expect positive results. There are a few things you should consider before entering into a reciprocal linking relationship. Another reason why sites employ reciprocal linking is to draw more traffic. If people are clicking on links to your website from other sites, you’re likely to convert those readers into customers. 


However, though reciprocal links can increate you search position, they are not the same strong as one-way links.
